A Love Letter to My Readers,
In this business nothing is static—of course, that’s partially why I love the world of book publishing so much. But it recently occurred to me that while our industry is in a constant state of flux, there are some things that never change. For example, if results are not found quickly people get frustrated and discouraged and abandon their websites—in the world of online book marketing, frustration and discouragement are our worst enemies. So, I am here to do two things: tell you what you might not already know, but should, and to encourage you to keep working toward your goals. You never know when success will find you and your book will soar to great heights.
I do believe.
The question is this: If you knew that there was an important update or new plug-in that could help your website load more quickly, alleviate some of that SPAM trouble you have been experiencing, and get you better search engine results, would it be worth the investment? And further, if your site actually got the results you are looking for (even if that is just good traffic results) wouldn’t you be more excited about keeping it up-to-date and utilizing it as a marketing tool—as opposed to an annoying online brochure that you would rather run from?
Every now and then we all need a little spark to reignite our marketing fire.
The number one reason authors give up on promoting their books is because they get frustrated and overwhelmed; the number two reason is that they run out of money. This makes me so sad because I think both scenarios can be avoided. The key to avoiding these pitfalls is education—if you are informed, you are empowered and more likely to make good decisions and spend your marketing dollars wisely.
With this in mind, I’ve decided to do two things: 1. Write a monthly newsletter that informs my clients and subscribers about critical WordPress updates as well as cool and helpful plug-ins that will make your life a hell of a lot easier, and 2. Offer monthly updates and plug-in installations at a discounted rate.
I am hopeful that my newsletter will inform you, get you excited about promoting your book, and remind you that … you never know when success will find your book, but if you lock it in the closet, your book will never find success.
