I get fired up about teaching + empowering authors.
I love helping people discover new tools and get closer to their goals.
When I can bring a topic into focus that may have seemed utterly out of reach, I experience a personal high that ignites my own passion to grow and improve. My SEO class is a good example of this: Search Engine Optimization is one of those scary subjects that people run away from. SEO just sounds hard—but it’s not. I reveal the basics as individual building blocks, each one building upon the next. Sometimes it’s just a matter of having the courage to give it a try. And if I can do that, I succeed.
My SEO class is dense. I struggle with balancing my desire to provide value with my inherent sensitivity to not overwhelm people. After 12 years of educating and teaching, I’ve discovered that people will take away what they need and what they can handle, the rest is just noise and I can’t fuss over that.
“Your presentation to our Southern California Writers Association was sublime, a feast of knowledge that surpassed the holiday faire on our plates. You are thoroughly informed and passionate about sharing your web knowledge to authors’ benefit.” —PJ Colando, author of Stashes
My courses are created to empower, entertain, and educate!
Writing a book is an impressive and admirable feat, I mean don’t you just feel like the coolest cat in the room when you announce that you are a published author? People straight up take note. But, then we need them to support us and buy our books and that’s not so easy. We authors need to reach more than those people in the room, we need to sing our message to the stars, but not too loud, and not too often! It’s a lot of pressure.
I frame my classes around the premise that you have to empower and educate yourself in order to effectively promote yourself.
In today’s publishing marketplace you must stand out from the crowd, be professional, look the part, produce an exceptional product, and then, as if that wasn’t enough—you must market and promote yourself and do it well, exceptionally well.
